Privacy Policy

Data We Collect

Screenplay Editor collects the following data:

1. Email Address

Your Google account email is collected when you first use the extension or add-on, to create your account, manage your subscription, and communicate with you about the service.

Source: Google OAuth (Chrome extension) or Google Apps Script session (add-on).

2. Usage Analytics

We collect anonymous usage events (e.g., which features you use, session duration) to improve the product. These events are associated with an anonymous identifier, not your email.

Examples: sidebar opened, document formatted, export used.

3. Document Content (On-Demand Features)

If you use AI-powered features (Script Doctor, synonyms, Production Breakdown), portions of your script are sent to our server to process your request. If you use Table Read (text-to-speech), dialogue lines are sent to generate audio. This content is not stored after processing.

Scope: Only sent when you explicitly use one of these features. Never sent otherwise.

How We Process Your Data

Your email address is used to manage trial periods, verify subscription status, and send service-related communications. We do not send marketing emails.

Usage analytics are aggregated daily to understand which features are used and improve the product. Individual sessions are not reviewed.

AI requests (Script Doctor, synonyms, Production Breakdown) are forwarded to Anthropic for processing. Table Read audio is generated via ElevenLabs or OpenAI. Your script content is not stored by us or by these providers beyond the request.

Data We Access

To provide its functionality, Screenplay Editor requires access to:

Current Google Document

We access the content of your open document to apply screenplay formatting. This access is limited to the document you have open.

Google Drive (Export)

When you export, we create PDF or Fountain files in your Drive. We only create new files. We don't read, modify, or delete other files.

How We Store Your Data

Data Transmission

All data is transmitted over HTTPS using TLS 1.2 or higher. Data at rest is encrypted by our storage providers (Cloudflare Workers KV, Google infrastructure).

On Our Servers

Email addresses and aggregated analytics are stored on Cloudflare Workers KV, a secure cloud infrastructure. Data is retained for 90 days for analytics, and indefinitely for account management (email, subscription status).

AI Feature Data

Document content sent for AI features is processed in-memory and discarded immediately after the response is returned. It is never written to disk or logged.

Within Google

User preferences (formatting options, theme) are stored via Google's PropertiesService, within Google's infrastructure, associated with your account. Document-specific data (character list, scene metadata) is stored in the document's own properties.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data is shared only with:

Stripe

Processes Pro subscription payments. We do not store your credit card information. Stripe handles payment data under its own privacy policy.

Anthropic

Processes AI feature requests (Script Doctor, synonyms, Production Breakdown). Script excerpts are sent only when you use these features and are not retained.

ElevenLabs / OpenAI

Generates audio for the Table Read feature. Dialogue lines are sent only when you use Table Read and are not retained by these providers beyond the request.

Cloudflare

Hosts our backend API and stores account and analytics data. Data is processed under Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Data Retention & Deletion

Usage analytics are retained for 90 days, then automatically deleted. Email addresses and account data are retained as long as you use the service.

To delete all your data, uninstall the add-on or extension and contact us at hugothomas@hotmail.fr to request deletion of your email from our servers.

Google API Services User Data Policy

Screenplay Editor's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

We do not use Google user data for serving advertisements.
We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except as necessary to provide or improve the service, comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition.
We do not use Google user data for purposes unrelated to the product's single purpose of screenplay formatting.
We do not allow humans to read Google user data unless we have the user's explicit consent, it is necessary for security purposes, or it is required by law.
