Everything Fountain encodes is read

The forced elements you wrote with a leading dot, an at sign or a greater-than sign, the title page at the top, the notes in double brackets and the boneyard between slashes and stars. Sections and synopses stay out, because they are your working notes rather than the screenplay. Bold and italic go too, since a screenplay has neither and the asterisks would otherwise show up in the document.

And it comes out with the right margins

The document carries the exact indents of the industry standard, the same ones Screenplay Editor applies while you write. Open it in Google Docs and the add-on or the Chrome extension recognises every paragraph immediately, because the file already holds the margins they expect.

Does it read forced elements?
Yes. A leading dot forces a scene heading, an at sign forces a character, a greater-than sign forces a transition, and an exclamation mark forces action. All four are read, and none of the marks end up in your document.
What happens to my title page?
The labelled lines at the top of your Fountain file become a proper centred title page. You can also leave it out with the checkbox above.
Why do I download a file instead of getting a Google Doc directly?
Creating a document in your Drive would mean asking you to sign in and give access to your files, for a tool you are trying out. Dragging the file into Drive takes about ten seconds.
Is my screenplay uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens inside this page, on your own computer. Nothing is sent and nothing is stored.
